Car
From Badlands National Park, head west on SD-240 W (Badlands Loop Road) towards Wall. Continue on SD-240 until you reach the intersection with I-90. Take the ramp onto I-90 W towards Rapid City. After approximately 15 miles, take exit 52 for SD-34 W toward Sturgis/Piedmont. Continue on SD-34 W for about 10 miles until you reach the turn for Elk Creek Rd. Turn left onto Elk Creek Rd, and after about 2 miles, you will find the Black Hills Petrified Forest on your right at 8220 Elk Creek Rd, Piedmont, SD 57769.

Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to Black Hills Petrified Forest from Badlands National Park. You can take a bus from Wall to Rapid City and then use a taxi or rideshare service to reach the petrified forest. From Badlands, take a bus to Wall, which costs around $15. Then, from Rapid City, a taxi or rideshare could cost approximately $30-$50, depending on traffic and time of day. Note that you should check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.

For the adventurous, cycling from Badlands to Black Hills Petrified Forest is an option. Start from the Badlands Visitor Center and head west on SD-240 W.
