From the center of Custer, head west on Mount Rushmore Road (US-16) for about 1 mile until you reach the junction with SD-36. Turn left onto SD-36 and continue south for approximately 6 miles. You will then reach the entrance to Custer State Park. Enter the park, and follow the signs towards the Breezy Point Picnic Area. The picnic area is located along the shore of Stockade Lake, a short distance from the main road. The total distance is about 7 miles, so be prepared for a pleasant walk through the scenic landscapes.
