    From the center of Custer, head southeast on Mount Rushmore Road (US-16) towards the southeastern edge of the town. Continue walking for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with SD-87. Turn left onto SD-87 and continue walking for approximately 5 miles. Look for signs to Custer State Park, where you will take a right turn onto the park road. The entrance to Custer State Park will be on your left.

    If you are biking, start from the main square in Custer and ride southeast on Mount Rushmore Road (US-16). After about 1 mile, turn left onto SD-87. Cycling along this road, keep an eye out for the Custer State Park signs. After biking about 5 miles on SD-87, turn right onto the park road. The entrance to Custer State Park will be just ahead on your left.
