Walking
From the Mount Rushmore National Memorial entrance, head towards the visitor center. Exit the visitor center and walk towards SD-244. Continue straight on SD-244 until you reach the junction with SD-16. Turn left onto SD-16 and walk along the road. After about 2 miles, you will reach the intersection with SD-44. Turn right onto SD-44 and walk for approximately 3 miles. Caputa Alpacas is located on your left at 15268 East SD-44.
Public Transportation
Start at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and make your way to the nearest bus stop. Take the local public transit bus that operates between the memorial and Rapid City. Once in Rapid City, transfer to a bus heading towards Caputa. Get off at the stop closest to SD-44 and walk approximately half a mile down SD-44 to reach Caputa Alpacas at 15268 East SD-44.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and follow the same route as for walking. Ride down SD-244 and onto SD-16. When you reach the junction with SD-44, turn right and continue cycling for about 3 miles. Caputa Alpacas will be on your left at 15268 East SD-44. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules.
