Getting There

  • Car

    From Pine Ridge, head northwest on SD-18 W. Continue on SD-18 W for about 45 miles, which will take you through scenic landscapes of South Dakota. As you approach Rapid City, watch for signs for I-90 W. Merge onto I-90 W and continue for approximately 8 miles. Take exit 57 for SD-79 S toward Deadwood. After about 3 miles, take a left onto Cavern Rd. Follow Cavern Rd for about 1 mile, and you will find Black Hills Caverns on your right at 2600 Cavern Rd, Rapid City, SD 57702.

    Start at the Pine Ridge Reservation Transit Authority bus stop. Check the schedule for the next bus heading towards Rapid City. The bus ride may take around 2 hours depending on the route and stops. Once you arrive at the Rapid City bus terminal, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to Black Hills Caverns. The taxi ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will cost around $20-$30. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your ride.
