Car
If you are driving from Rapid City, take I-90 W towards Sturgis. After about 30 miles, take exit 61 for US-385 S toward Hot Springs. Continue on US-385 S for approximately 25 miles until you reach the junction with SD-34. Turn left onto SD-34 E and drive for about 15 miles until you reach Scenic. From Scenic, continue on Sheep Mountain Rd for about 5 miles. Follow the signs to Sheep Mountain Overlook, located at the end of the road. The scenic views and the overlook are free to access.

Public Transportation + Car
If you are using public transportation, first take the bus from Rapid City to Hot Springs. Once you arrive in Hot Springs, you will need to rent a car or arrange a taxi service to reach Sheep Mountain Overlook. From Hot Springs, follow US-385 N for approximately 15 miles, then turn right onto SD-34 E and continue for another 10 miles until you reach Scenic. From Scenic, take Sheep Mountain Rd for about 5 miles to the overlook. Note that public transportation schedules may vary, so check in advance for the latest information.
