Car
If you are driving from Seville, take the A-92 highway towards Málaga. After approximately 2 hours, take exit 3B toward MA-20, and then follow the signs for the city center. Once you reach Málaga, follow Avenida de Andalucía and then take Calle Larios, which will lead you to Plaza de la Constitución. From there, continue on to Calle Alcazabilla. The Alcazaba is located at C/ Alcazabilla, 2, Distrito Centro, 29012 Málaga. There are several public parking options nearby, but expect to pay around €1.50-€2.00 per hour.
Public Transportation (Train)
If you prefer to travel by train, take a Renfe train from major cities like Seville or Granada to Málaga. Once you arrive at Málaga's María Zambrano train station, exit and walk to the nearby bus stop. Take bus line 1 or 36 towards the city center. Alight at the stop 'Alameda Principal - Av. de Andalucía'. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Alcazaba. Follow signs towards Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll find Calle Alcazabilla leading directly to the fortress.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those within Málaga province, local buses are a convenient option. You can use the Málaga city bus service, taking line 1, 3, or 7 that go towards the city center. Get off at 'Alameda Principal' and walk towards Plaza de la Constitución. From there, follow Calle Alcazabilla, which will take you directly to Alcazaba. A single ticket costs around €1.30.
Walking
If you are staying in the city center, Alcazaba is easily accessible by foot. Simply head towards Plaza de la Constitución and follow Calle Alcazabilla. The walk takes about 10-15 minutes. This is a great option to enjoy the local shops and cafes along the way.
