Walking
If you are in the heart of Abando, start by heading south on Gran Vía, one of the main avenues. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Calle de la Alameda de Urquijo. Turn left onto Alameda de Urquijo and walk for approximately 500 meters. You will then reach Plaza Nueva at K. Barria, 14. This route will take you past shops and cafes, making for a pleasant walk.

From Abando, locate the nearest Metro station, which is Abando station. Take Line 1 (the metro line marked with the color green) towards Etxebarri. After two stops, disembark at the Casco Viejo station. Upon exiting the station, head towards Calle de la Ribera and follow the signs for Plaza Nueva. It is about a 5-minute walk from the station to Plaza Nueva.

If you prefer, you can also take the tram from Abando. Find the nearest tram stop, which is located on Gran Vía or near the Guggenheim Museum. Board the tram heading towards the Atxuri direction. Get off at the 'Plaza de Euskadi' stop. From there, it is a short walk to Plaza Nueva by heading towards the historic district along Calle de la Ribera.
