Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Santiago de Compostela, take the AP-9 motorway towards Pontevedra. After approximately 60 km, take exit 119 onto the N-550 towards Vila de Cruces. Continue on N-550 for about 12 km, then turn right onto the PO-202 road. Follow this road for about 8 km until you reach the signs for Mosteiro de Carboeiro. The monastery will be located on your left, and there is parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Monastery of Carboeiro via public transport, start by taking a bus from Santiago de Compostela to Vila de Cruces. Buses are operated by Monbus and usually take about 1 hour. Once in Vila de Cruces, you can take a taxi to the monastery, which is approximately 7 km away. Taxis can be found near the bus station. The taxi fare may vary but expect to pay around €10-€15.

• Walking from Vila de Cruces

  If you prefer to walk from Vila de Cruces, it is approximately a 1.5-hour walk (about 7 km). From the bus station, head northwest on the N-550 road towards Pontevedra. After about 1 km, turn left onto PO-202. Continue following the road, and look for signs to Mosteiro de Carboeiro. Please ensure to wear comfortable shoes and check the weather before setting out, as parts of the route may not have sidewalks.
