Bus
From the city center of Murcia, walk to the main bus station, Estación de Autobuses de Murcia, located at Avenida de la Libertad. Take bus number 1 or 44 towards Torrevieja. The journey will take approximately 50 minutes. Get off at the La Mata stop, which is the closest stop to La Mata Beach. From there, walk towards the beach following the signs, which should take around 10-15 minutes.
Train
Head to the Murcia del Carmen train station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the city center. Take a train to Torrevieja, which typically requires a transfer at the Orihuela station. Once you arrive at Torrevieja, exit the station and take bus number 45 towards La Mata. This bus will take you directly to the beach area. The entire journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Murcia. Start from the city center and follow the bike path heading towards the coast. The ride to La Mata Beach is approximately 30 kilometers and should take around 1.5 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to follow the signs along the route leading to Torrevieja and then to La Mata Beach.
Walking
For those feeling adventurous, you can walk to La Mata Beach from the city center of Murcia. This is a long journey of approximately 30 kilometers, so it is recommended only for the most experienced walkers. Start on Avenida de la Libertad, head towards Torrevieja, and follow the signs to La Mata Beach. It may take around 6-7 hours, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of water.
