Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Anuradhapura City Center, head towards the main road (Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha). Walk northwards until you reach the intersection with the Nuwara Eliya Road. Cross the road and continue straight until you reach the entrance of the Sacred City of Anuradhapura. Once inside the Sacred City, follow the signs directing you to Thuparamaya. It is located a short distance from the main entrance. Look for the large stone stupa which is the landmark of Thuparamaya.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Anuradhapura. Start your journey from the city center and head towards Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha. Cycle north, and take a right onto Nuwara Eliya Road. Continue cycling until you see the entrance to the Sacred City. Once inside, follow the bicycle paths leading to Thuparamaya.
