Walking
Starting from the Anuradhapura Railway Station, exit the station and head northeast towards the main road (Station Road). Turn right onto Station Road and continue straight for about 1.5 km. You will pass several shops and local eateries. Keep an eye out for the signboard leading to Swarnamali Mawatha. Turn left onto Swarnamali Mawatha and walk for approximately 500 meters. The Basawakkulama Tank will be on your right, marked by a large sign and accessible via a small walkway leading to the tank.

If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one near the city center. Start at the Anuradhapura City Center and head southwest towards the main road. Turn onto the main road and cycle straight for about 2 km. When you reach the intersection with Swarnamali Mawatha, turn right. Continue cycling for another 500 meters, and you will find the Basawakkulama Tank on your right side.

Hail a tuk-tuk from any point in Anuradhapura. Inform the driver that you want to go to Basawakkulama Tank. It should take around 10 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the tank, where you can enjoy the scenic views and relax.

Look for a local bus heading towards the Northern part of Anuradhapura. Get off at the 'Swarnamali Mawatha' bus stop. From there, walk straight along Swarnamali Mawatha for about 500 meters. The Basawakkulama Tank will be on your right. This is a budget-friendly option, and the buses run frequently.
