Car
If you're driving from Badulla town, head east on Mahiyangana Road (A5). Follow the road for approximately 8 kilometers. You will see a sign for Dunhida Waterfall on your left. Turn left at the sign, and continue down the road until you reach a small parking area near the waterfall access point. Be cautious of the narrow roads, and watch for pedestrians and cyclists.
Public Transportation
To reach Dunhida Waterfall by public transport, take a bus from Badulla town to Mahiyangana. Buses leave frequently from the main bus station. Upon reaching Mahiyangana, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to take you directly to the waterfall access point. This will cost approximately 300-500 LKR depending on your negotiation skills. Inform the driver that you want to go to Dunhida Waterfall, as it is a known destination.
Walking
If you are already near the waterfall access point, you can walk to it from the nearest bus stop or parking area. The trail to the waterfall begins at the parking area. Follow the marked path which leads you through scenic surroundings. The walk is moderate and should take around 15-20 minutes to reach the waterfall itself. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
