From the center of Bentota, head towards the Bentota River. You can start at the Bentota Railway Station. Walk south along Galle Road (A2). After about 1.5 kilometers, take a left onto Wellatha Road. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer. You will see signs for Thudugala Ella along the way. The waterfall is located just off Wellatha Road, and it will be on your right.

From your location in Bentota, find a nearby tuk-tuk stand or flag down a tuk-tuk. Tell the driver you want to go to Thudugala Ella. The driver will take you along Galle Road (A2) towards Wellatha Road. The trip will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Wellatha Road; Thudugala Ella is just a short walk from there.

If you have rented a bicycle, start at the Bentota River and cycle south along Galle Road (A2). After about 1.5 kilometers, turn left onto Wellatha Road. Cycle straight for about 1 kilometer, and you will see the signs leading to Thudugala Ella. There is space to park your bicycle near the waterfall.
