Getting There

  • Car

    From the main entrance of Bundala National Park, head west on the A2 highway. Continue for approximately 7 kilometers until you reach the junction at Wirawila. Turn right onto the B3 road and follow the signs for Wirawila. After about 3 kilometers, you will see a sign for Madawwa Weerawila Lake. Turn left and follow the road for another 1 kilometer. The lake will be on your right. Parking is available near the lake.

    Start at the main entrance of Bundala National Park and take a local bus heading towards Hambantota. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off at Wirawila. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes, and the fare is typically around 50 LKR. Once you reach Wirawila, you can either walk (about 3 kilometers) or take a tuk-tuk for a small fee (approximately 200 LKR) to Madawwa Weerawila Lake. The lake is located about 1 kilometer from the main road.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    If you are already in the Wirawila area, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you directly to Madawwa Weerawila Lake.
