Getting There

Car
To reach Sigiriya by car from Colombo District, start by getting onto the Colombo-Kandy Road (A1). Follow this road for approximately 140 km. After passing through towns such as Kurunegala and Dambulla, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Sigiriya. Turn onto the Sigiriya Road (B3) and continue straight for about 14 km. You will arrive at the entrance of Sigiriya, which is well signposted. Parking is available near the entrance, and the entry fee is approximately LKR 4,000 for foreign tourists.

Public Transportation - Bus
From Colombo, you can take a direct bus to Sigiriya. Head to the Colombo Central Bus Stand (Pettah) and catch a bus heading to Dambulla. The journey takes around 4-5 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Dambulla, you can transfer to a local bus to Sigiriya, which is about 15 km away. The local bus will cost around LKR 50-100 and takes about 30 minutes. Please note that bus schedules may vary, so check local timetables in advance.

Public Transportation - Train
You can also travel by train from Colombo to Habarana, which is the nearest train station to Sigiriya. Depart from Colombo Fort Railway Station and take a train towards Habarana. The journey usually takes about 4-5 hours. Upon arrival at Habarana station, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a taxi to reach Sigiriya, which is approximately 15 km away. The tuk-tuk fare will be around LKR 500, while a taxi may charge around LKR 1,200.
