Bus
From Colombo Fort Bus Station, take the bus heading towards Negombo. The bus number 240 or 245 is recommended. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Ask the conductor for a stop near Negombo Lagoon. Once you reach the area, you can walk towards the lagoon, which is a short distance away from the main road.
Train
From Colombo Fort Railway Station, board a train on the Main Line heading to Negombo. The train ride takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Negombo Station, exit the station and take a tuk-tuk or a local bus to the Negombo Lagoon. The lagoon is about 5 kilometers from the station, and the tuk-tuk ride should take around 10-15 minutes.
Tuk-Tuk
If you are already in the vicinity of Colombo, you can hire a tuk-tuk directly to Negombo Lagoon. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your trip. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Just provide the driver with 'Negombo Lagoon' as your destination.
Walking
If you are staying near the beach area of Negombo, you can walk to the lagoon. Head towards the main road and follow the signs to the lagoon. The walk will take around 30-40 minutes. Make sure to stay hydrated, and wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven in certain areas.
