Getting There

  • Walking from Colombo Fort

    Start at Colombo Fort Railway Station. Exit the station and head towards Janadhipathi Mawatha. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha. Turn right onto Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha and continue until you reach the Liberty Plaza shopping mall. From Liberty Plaza, take the road leading to Havelock Road. Follow Havelock Road until you reach Wellawatte Beach. The beach will be on your right. This walk is approximately 4.5 km and should take about 1 hour.

  • Taking a Bus from Colombo Fort

    At Colombo Fort, locate the bus stop. Take a bus heading towards Wellawatte or Havelock Town. Common bus numbers to look for are 100, 101, or 102. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Wellawatte Beach. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.
