Walking
From Kollupitiya, start at the Kollupitiya Junction. Head west on Galle Road (A2) until you reach the intersection with Liberty Plaza. Keep walking straight until you reach the intersection at the Colombo Town Hall. At the Town Hall, turn left onto the Independence Avenue. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers, and you will see the entrance to Independence Square on your right. The total walking distance is approximately 2 kilometers, and it should take around 25-30 minutes depending on your pace.

From Kollupitiya, you can take a bus heading towards Colombo Fort. Board any bus that has 'Fort' displayed and travel until you reach the Colombo Town Hall. The fare is around 20 LKR. Once you get off at the Town Hall, walk along Independence Avenue for about 1 kilometer to reach Independence Square. The total travel time, including waiting, is around 30-40 minutes.

For a quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Kollupitiya. Just tell the driver 'Independence Square' or show them the address: 7 Independence Ave, Colombo 00700. The fare should range between 300 to 500 LKR depending on traffic. The journey will take about 10-15 minutes.
