Car
If you are traveling by car from Dambulla, take the A9 highway heading north. After approximately 15 km, turn onto the B3 road towards Sigiriya. Continue straight for about 20 km until you see signs for Sigiriya on your left. Follow the signs to the entrance of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Parking is available near the entrance, but there may be a small fee.
Public Transportation
To reach Sigiriya by public transport from Dambulla, head to the Dambulla bus station and take a local bus heading towards Sigiriya. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. The fare is generally around 50 LKR. Once you arrive at Sigiriya, you can walk to the entrance of the fortress, which is about 1 km from the bus stop.
Tuk-Tuk
For a more comfortable and direct option, hire a tuk-tuk from Dambulla to Sigiriya. The ride will take about 30 minutes and cost approximately 1,000 to 1,500 LKR, depending on your negotiation skills. The driver will drop you off at the entrance of Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Dambulla and cycling to Sigiriya. The route is about 20 km and can be quite scenic. Bicycle rentals are available in Dambulla for around 500 LKR per day. Ensure you have plenty of water and sunscreen, as the ride can be taxing in the heat.
