Car
If you're traveling by car within the Cultural Triangle region, head towards Polonnaruwa. From the main town center, follow the signs to the archaeological sites. Vatadage is located at W2W2+WGV, Polonnaruwa, which is approximately a 5-minute drive from the Polonnaruwa Museum. Look for the entrance to the archaeological park and ensure to park in designated areas. The driving distance from Sigiriya to Vatadage is about 55 km and will take roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Public Transportation
To reach Vatadage using public transportation, catch a bus from Dambulla or Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa. Buses are frequent, and the journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, costing around 100 LKR. Once you arrive at the Polonnaruwa bus station, you can either take a tuk-tuk or walk to Vatadage, which is about 2 km away. Tuk-tuks will cost approximately 200-300 LKR for the short trip. Ask the driver to take you to the archaeological site of Vatadage.

If you are already in Polonnaruwa and prefer a more direct option, hiring a tuk-tuk is a great choice. You can easily find tuk-tuks near the bus station or around the town center. The ride to Vatadage will take about 10 minutes, costing around 200 LKR. It's advisable to negotiate the fare upfront to avoid any confusion.
