Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kandy or Colombo. Take the A1 road towards Kegalle and then switch to the A26 towards Ginigathhena. Continue on the A26 until you reach the intersection with Kalawaldeniya Road. Turn onto Kalawaldeniya Road and follow it for about 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Aberdeen Waterfall. There is a small parking area near the waterfall where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transport
For those using public transport, you can take a bus from Kandy or Colombo to Ginigathhena. Buses frequently run from both cities to Ginigathhena, and the journey takes about 2-3 hours from Kandy and 3-4 hours from Colombo. Once you arrive in Ginigathhena, you can hire a three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) to take you to Kalawaldeniya Road. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Ensure you negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 500-700 LKR.
Walking
If you prefer to walk or hike, you can access the waterfall from Ginigathhena. After arriving in Ginigathhena by bus, you can walk towards Kalawaldeniya Road. The hike from the town to the waterfall is approximately 3 kilometers and can take about 40-60 minutes depending on your pace. The trail is marked, but be prepared for some rough patches.
