Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Galle Fort, which is a popular tourist hub. Head southeast on Pedlar Street, then make a right onto Church Street. Continue on Church Street until you reach the main road (Galle-Matara Road). Turn left onto Galle-Matara Road (A2). After approximately 1 km, take the exit toward Gamini Mawatha. Follow Gamini Mawatha for about 500 meters, and the Rooster Monument will be on your left. There is limited street parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a local bus from Galle Bus Station, which is close to Galle Fort. Look for buses heading toward Matara or Weligama; they will pass along Galle-Matara Road. Inform the conductor to drop you off near Gamini Mawatha. Once you disembark, walk towards the direction of the Galle Fort for about 10 minutes, and you will see the Rooster Monument on your left side. The bus fare is approximately 30-50 LKR, depending on your starting point.

• Tuk-Tuk

  For a more convenient option, consider hiring a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Galle District. Simply tell the driver you want to go to the Rooster Monument on Gamini Mawatha. The journey will typically take around 10-15 minutes from Galle Fort, and the fare should be negotiated beforehand, usually around 200-400 LKR depending on the distance.
