Getting There

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From Hikkaduwa Beach, find a Tuk-Tuk stand which is usually located near the main road. Negotiate a fare with the driver to take you to Unawatuna. The journey should take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Enjoy the scenic ride along the coast.

  • Bus

    Walk to the main road (Galle Road) from Hikkaduwa Beach. Look for a local bus heading towards Galle. The bus fare is quite inexpensive. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the Unawatuna stop. Make sure to press the bell to stop the bus when you see Unawatuna. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to the beach area.

    If you are feeling adventurous and enjoy walking, you can take a scenic route from Hikkaduwa to Unawatuna. Head south along the beach, keeping the ocean to your right. The walk is around 6 kilometers and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. You will pass through beautiful coastal areas and local villages. Follow the water's edge until you reach Unawatuna beach.
