Tuk-Tuk
To reach the Knuckles Forest Reserve from Kandy, you can take a tuk-tuk, which is a convenient and popular mode of transport. Head to the nearest tuk-tuk stand, which can be found near Kandy City Center or close to the Kandy Railway Station. Once you find a tuk-tuk, inform the driver you want to go to the Knuckles Forest Reserve in Gomara, and show them the address: FQ2Q+358, Medadumbara poddalgoda heeloya Rod. The ride should take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare beforehand.
Bus
If you prefer to travel by bus, you can catch a bus from the Kandy Bus Station, which is located near the city center. Look for buses heading towards Medadumbara or Gomara. Ask the bus conductor to let you know when to get off for the Knuckles Forest Reserve. The bus journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. After disembarking, you may need to walk a short distance or take a tuk-tuk to the entrance of the reserve.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and are staying relatively close, you can walk to the Knuckles Forest Reserve. From Kandy, head towards the Peradeniya Road. Follow the signs towards the Gonawala area and continue along the road toward Medadumbara. This walk will take several hours, so it's recommended only for those who are physically fit and prepared for a long trek. Ensure to carry enough water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
