Getting there

Car

If you are driving, head towards the Matale District center. From the center, take the A9 highway heading north. After approximately 10 kilometers, look for signs indicating the turn to the Watagoda area. Turn onto the road and continue for about 5 kilometers. You will reach a small parking area near the waterfall. The GPS coordinates for the parking area are approximately 7.4584, 80.6056.

Bus

If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Matale town heading towards Dambulla or Kandy and ask the bus driver to drop you at the nearest stop to Watagoda. The fare should be around 50 LKR. Once you get off, you may need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to the waterfall. Follow the local signs or ask locals for directions, as they will be happy to help.

Tuk-Tuk

For a more direct and convenient option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Matale town. The fare may range from 300 to 500 LKR depending on your negotiation skills and the distance. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the waterfall entrance. Ensure you agree on a return fare beforehand or request the driver to wait for you.

Walking

If you are feeling adventurous and are already near the Watagoda area, you can walk to the waterfall. The trail is about 1 to 2 kilometers depending on your starting point. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the path can be steep and uneven in places.
