Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Matara. Head south on Galle Road (A2) and continue to follow the road along the coast. After approximately 8 kilometers, you will reach Dondra. Look for signs directing you to Dondra Head, and turn onto Port Access Road (WHCV+GJ4). Follow this road until you reach the Dondra Head Lighthouse, which is a prominent landmark in the area.

Public Transportation (Bus)

To reach Dondra Head by public transportation, head to the Matara Bus Station. Look for buses heading towards Dondra; they usually operate frequently. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Dondra, ask the driver to drop you off near the lighthouse or follow the local signs towards Dondra Head. From the bus stop, it is a short walk (about 1 km) to the lighthouse along Port Access Road.

Tuk-Tuk

If you prefer a more direct method from Matara, you can hire a tuk-tuk. Negotiate the fare in advance (around 1000-1500 LKR) for a one-way trip to Dondra Head. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the lighthouse, making it a convenient option, especially if you are traveling with luggage or in a group.
