Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mirissa, head north on the main road (Mirissa Beach Road). Continue walking straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach a junction. At the junction, take a left turn onto Galle Road (A2). Keep walking straight along Galle Road for approximately 10 kilometers. You'll pass through the town of Weligama and then continue to Galle. As you approach Galle, look for signs directing you to the Galle Lighthouse. Once you reach Galle Fort, you will see the lighthouse at its southern tip.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Mirissa, find a tuk-tuk by waving one down on the street or asking at your hotel. Tell the driver you want to go to the Galle Lighthouse. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you along Galle Road (A2). You'll pass through Weligama and upon reaching Galle, they will drop you off near the Galle Fort where the lighthouse is located.

  • Public Bus

    Walk to the nearest bus stop on the Mirissa Beach Road. Catch a bus heading towards Galle (look for buses labeled 'Galle' or 'Galle Fort'). The bus ride will take about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive in Galle, get off at the Galle Main Bus Stand. From there, you can either walk to the lighthouse which is about a 20-minute walk or hire a tuk-tuk to take you directly to the Galle Lighthouse.
