A great experience you must do

As long as you do a safari you must know that no one guaranties you that you are going to see all the animals in the park since they are wild animals, and they are constantly moving. But in our case, despite we did not see the leopard, we saw the sloth bear and it was awesome. However, if we would not have seen the sloth bear, we would have thought the experience was worth because you see many different wild animals and beautiful landscapes.

Vast site with multiple 'stops' for different ruins. Well kept, reasonable signage but well worth an official guide!

This is a vast site of inner and outer cities that you can drive or cycle around (bikes available just outside) stopping at a number of ruins to explore further. The museum explains the site and has some good models of what the buildings would have looked like (and did before restoration too) so worth going in first. Hot though as the A/C isn’t currently working! The ruins on the site are mostly just the lower brickwork so need to use your imagination. The official guide's value comes in now aa they know the best way round to see the most. You could spend all day here! Too hot for that, 42ish when we visited. Quite a few hawers selling mostly trash but a firm no thanks with a smile and the leave you alone. A number of sites are religious so be prepared to remove shoes and hats often if you want to go in. All quite clean - my white socks are barely stained.

A ticket is required to enter Sigiriya, and it’s absolutely worth it. Plan to spend around 3–5 hours here to walk around comfortably, explore the gardens, climb the rock, and truly take in everything this place offers. Sigiriya is simply awesome. From the perfectly planned water gardens to the steep climb and summit ruins, it’s hard to believe the level of architecture and engineering achieved so many centuries ago. Some of the design details feel way ahead of their time and honestly leave you in disbelief. This is not a place to rush—take your time, enjoy the views, and absorb the history. Sigiriya is one of those rare places that truly makes you stop and say “How did they even build this?” An unforgettable experience.
