Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Sigiriya Rock Fortress entrance, head southeast towards the main road (Dambulla - Sigiriya Road). Walk approximately 1.5 kilometers along the road. You will pass several small shops and local eateries. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Preaching Rock. After about 1.5 km, look for a narrow path on your right that leads towards the Preaching Rock. Follow this path for about 500 meters until you reach the base of the rock formation.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Sigiriya. Start your ride from the main entrance of Sigiriya Rock Fortress and head south on the Dambulla - Sigiriya Road. The distance is about 2 km. Cycle past local attractions, and be cautious of traffic. After 1.5 km, you’ll see a sign for Preaching Rock on your right. Turn into the path and cycle for another 500 meters until you reach the rock.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    Find a tuk-tuk driver near your accommodation or the Sigiriya Rock Fortress entrance. Ask to be taken to Preaching Rock, which is about 2 km away. The driver will navigate through the local roads. It should take around 10 minutes. Once you arrive, the tuk-tuk can drop you off at the base of the rock.
