7 Days 6 Nights Tour

Amazing experience with a brilliant guide

We booked this tour via Trailfinders UK as part of a two week holiday. We had one day in Negombo to get over the long flight and then we drove up to Habarana for two nights, then southward via two more hotels, to end up on the South Coast. Scheduled highlights included Sigiriya Rock (amazing and challenging), a Tea-plantation tour and a train ride from Nuward Eliya to Ella. Our private guide Malaka was excellent and went out of his way to find other things to see which we were not on the schedule. I hope your guide is as good. The hotels we used were OK, not the best, not the worst, a means to an end - but they got better as we travelled south and the Jetwing St Andrews in Nuward Eliya was lovely. Make sure you go to the post office there! Top tip, the car used to collect us from the airport was a little snug, so we upgraded to a 4x4 for the main part of the trip. About £150 I think, but given what we spent on the whole holiday, it was worth it. Overall, the tour was a wonderful and unforgettable experience. We sent the second week lying on a beach, but most of our memories of Sri Lanka come from this tour.

This was a fabulous unexpected highlight of our time in Sigiriya. The staff were so fun and we had a delicious lunch cooked in a traditional kitchen using intuitive and basic utensils. The staff had pride in their traditional Sri Lankan village culture and were proud to show it. It was very fun.
