If you're driving from Trincomalee town, head north on the A15 road towards Nilaveli. Follow the road signs for approximately 16 kilometers (about 30 minutes), passing the scenic views of the coastline. As you approach Nilaveli, you'll find a turning to the right leading directly to the beach. Look for signs indicating 'Nilaveli Beach' and make a right turn. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the beach area. There is usually no parking fee, but ensure you park in designated areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Nilaveli Beach from Trincomalee using public transportation, head to the main bus station in Trincomalee. Look for buses heading towards Nilaveli. The bus fare is typically around 50 LKR (Sri Lankan Rupees) and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Buses run frequently throughout the day. After arriving at the Nilaveli bus stop, you may have to walk around 1 kilometer to reach the beach. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions, as it's a straightforward walk.
Tuk-Tuk
For a more personal experience, consider hiring a tuk-tuk from Trincomalee to Nilaveli Beach. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it usually costs between 1000 to 1500 LKR. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Tuk-tuks can drop you off directly at the beach entrance, which is convenient if you have luggage or want to avoid walking from the bus stop.
