For those using public transportation, take a bus heading to Wellawaya from major towns in Uva Province like Badulla or Ella. Upon reaching Wellawaya, get off at the main bus stand. From there, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to take you to Alikote Ara, which is about 7 kilometers away from the bus stand. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey; typical rates are around 500-800 LKR.

Once you arrive at the parking area near Alikote Ara, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the Ellewala Waterfall. The path is well-marked, but wear sturdy shoes as it may be a bit rugged. Follow the trail that leads downwards, and you will soon hear the sound of the waterfall. The hike takes about 15-20 minutes.
