Walking
Start at the Lelydorp bus station. From there, head south on the main road (Kaya Lelydorp) for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with the Abraham Crijnssenweg. Turn left onto Abraham Crijnssenweg and continue straight for approximately 12 km. You will pass through various neighborhoods, and keep an eye out for local shops and eateries along the way for a taste of local culture. After 12 km, you will arrive at Fort Zeelandia, which is home to the Surinaams Museum. The museum entrance is located at Abraham Crijnssenweg 1, right at the fort.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start at the Lelydorp community center. Ride south on the main road (Kaya Lelydorp) for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Abraham Crijnssenweg. Turn left onto Abraham Crijnssenweg and cycle straight for approximately 12 km. This route is mostly flat and offers a pleasant ride through the area. Keep an eye out for traffic as you approach Paramaribo. When you reach Fort Zeelandia, park your bicycle at the designated area near the entrance, and enjoy your visit to Surinaams Museum.
Public Transport
From Lelydorp, you can take a bus towards Paramaribo. Board the bus at the Lelydorp bus station and ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Fort Zeelandia. The journey will take about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you get off, walk towards Abraham Crijnssenweg and follow the signs to Fort Zeelandia, which is approximately a 5-minute walk from the bus stop. The Surinaams Museum is located within Fort Zeelandia at Abraham Crijnssenweg 1.
