Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Albina, which is a key location in the Marowijne District. Head east on the main road (Route 9) towards the border with French Guiana. After approximately 5 km, follow the signs to Braamspunt. This area is well-marked, but make sure to keep an eye on local signage which can vary. Continue driving until you reach the junction leading to Braamspunt, where you'll see roads branching off towards the beach. Note that some parts of the road may be unpaved and can be bumpy, so drive cautiously.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
From Albina, you can take a minibus (locally known as a 'bus') heading towards Braamspunt. These minibuses are available near the main market square. The cost is usually around 10 to 15 SRD (Surinamese Dollar) per person. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off at the closest point to Braamspunt. From there, it's a short walk to the beach, just follow the path towards the sound of the waves.
Bicycle
For those wanting a more adventurous route, consider cycling from Albina to Braamspunt. Ensure you have a well-functioning bike and a map or GPS. The distance is roughly 10 km, and you will follow the same route as cars. This option provides a unique experience, allowing you to enjoy the scenery at your own pace. Remember to bring water and snacks, and be cautious of traffic along the main road.
Walking
If you are staying nearby and feel adventurous, you can walk to Braamspunt from Albina. This is a longer trek, around 10 km, and could take approximately 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring sufficient water. Follow the main road out of Albina heading east, and then take the branch towards Braamspunt. This is a great way to experience the local environment and meet people along the way.
