The park is run as a non-profit conservation organisation: enclosures, demonstration enclosures and the Amphibian Ark are designed to combine animal care with genetic and reintroduction work, and the site’s landscape deliberately mirrors habitats needed for species recovery.

A walkable layout with varied habitats

Paths at Nordens Ark wind across roughly 4.5 kilometres of visitor routes that link formal gardens near the manor, open farm areas, wetlands and forested enclosures. Routes are wide and largely pushchair- and wheelchair-friendly, with several gentle slopes rather than steep climbs. The sequence of habitats lets you pass from quiet, wooded glades with owls and forest-dwelling mammals to sunny meadows holding grazing species and open wetlands for amphibians and waders.

Animal collection and specialist facilities

The park focuses on species with urgent conservation needs: you’ll encounter large carnivores and smaller specialist species housed in enclosures that prioritise behavioural enrichment and natural substrates. Education buildings and the Amphibian Ark provide close-up displays and guided talks at set times in the programme, while behind-the-scenes breeding and veterinary areas (not open to general visitors) support captive-breeding, research and carefully planned reintroductions.

Seasonal rhythm and daily programme

Nordens Ark’s public season is organised around Swedish school holidays and summer months, with an extensive daily programme in high season that includes animal talks, farm‑yard interactions and themed guided tours. A Christmas market and special holiday opening periods are held in late November and during the winter school break; the on-site café and occasional pop-up stalls follow the seasonal timetable.

Facilities, hospitality and short-stay options

Near the entrance is a main building with a café, ticketing and a small shop; additional picnic spots and sheltered seating are spread along the trails. The site also operates a Bed & Breakfast and cabins within the broader eco-park, offering simple overnight stays that dovetail with park activities. Visitor services include information boards, rentable carts in season, and charging points for electric vehicles at the parking area. A visit combines the quiet atmosphere of managed parkland with occasions of lively animal noise: calls from raptors, the rustle of roe or deer in the margins, and the energetic clatter of farm animals in summer. Surfaces vary from compacted gravel near the manor to softer woodland soil; on cool days the air holds peat and pine resin, while sunlit meadows bring a warmer, hay-scented note. The layout encourages lingering—short viewpoints, benches and interpretive panels invite you to pause and read about breeding work and species histories.
