Seriegården is a dispersed sculpture park where dozens — ultimately hundreds — of wooden and stone carvings occupy glades, grassy banks and sheltered corners beneath birch and pine. The sculptures range from comic-strip heroes and fairy‑tale figures to animals and larger-than-life caricatures; many are hand‑carved with visible tool marks and retain a direct, folk-art immediacy. The site reads like a slow-moving storybook: each turn along an informal path reveals a new tableau rather than a formal gallery arrangement.

Founded in 1959 by local carver and collector Knut Karlsson, Seriegården grew through decades of additions and repairs; new works were added over time, and a steady programme of maintenance keeps many weathered pieces readable rather than decayed. The park’s character is cumulative — rather than a single curated vision, it’s an accretion of hand-made responses to popular stories, regional motifs and the sculptor’s own humour. That lineage creates a particular atmosphere: part roadside folk attraction, part private studio opened to the public.

Approaching the site you first notice the scale shifts: some figures are diminutive, others monumental, and many invite close inspection. The scent of sawdust and treated wood lingers in sheltered corners where carved pieces are housed; birdsong and distant farm sounds form the acoustic backdrop. Underfoot the ground is a mix of short grass, compacted soil and some gravel at entrances; rain will make the softer sections sticky, so footwear matters.
