Car
If you're driving from central Umeå, head south on Storgatan towards Rådhustorget. Continue straight onto Kungsbacka and follow the signs for E4. Merge onto E4 and drive for approximately 5 km. Take the exit toward Umeå C and follow the signs for Umeå city center. Keep left at the fork to stay on Umevägen, then turn right onto Helena Elisabeths väg. The Västerbotten museum will be on your left at Helena Elisabeths väg 3, 903 42 Umeå. Parking is available nearby, but may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Umeå Central Station, take bus number 1 towards 'Norrland University Hospital'. The bus will take you directly to the 'Björkarnas väg' stop, which is about a 10-minute ride. From the bus stop, walk approximately 500 meters east on Björkarnas väg, then turn left onto Helena Elisabeths väg. The Västerbotten museum will be on your right. A single bus ticket costs around 30 SEK.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Umeå city. From the city center, head southeast on Rådhustorget towards Kungsbacka. Continue onto the bike path parallel to E4, and then turn onto Helena Elisabeths väg. The museum is approximately a 15-20 minute bike ride from the city center. This is a scenic route along the river, and bike rentals are typically around 100 SEK for a few hours.
Walking
If you are staying nearby and wish to walk, from Umeå Central Station, head south on Storgatan. Continue straight onto Kungsbacka and follow the pedestrian paths to E4. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and follow the signs towards Umeå C. Walk along Umevägen, then turn right onto Helena Elisabeths väg. The museum is about a 30-minute walk from the train station. Enjoy the local shops and cafes along the way.
