Folkparken emerged from the vision of grosshandlare John Philipsson, who donated the land and funded its creation between 1892 and 1894. Amid Norrköping's booming textile industry, where factory workers toiled long hours in cramped conditions, Philipsson aimed to provide a green refuge for rest and recreation.
