Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by getting onto E4 from any central location in Västerbotten. Drive south on E4 for approximately 60 km until you reach the turnoff for Route 343 towards Stora Blåsjön. Take Route 343 and continue for about 25 km, following the signs to Stora Blåsjön. Once in Stora Blåsjön, you will need to navigate to Gaustafallet by following the local roads for another 10 km to the waterfall's parking area. Make sure your vehicle is equipped for local conditions, especially in winter.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Umeå to Örnsköldsvik. From Örnsköldsvik, transfer to a local bus headed to Stora Blåsjön. The bus ride takes about 3-4 hours, so plan accordingly. Once you arrive at Stora Blåsjön, you will need to either walk or arrange for a local taxi service to take you to Gaustafallet, which is approximately 10 km away. Be sure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as services may be limited.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct method from Stora Blåsjön to Gaustafallet, consider hiring a taxi. You can find local taxi services in Stora Blåsjön, and it's advisable to book your taxi in advance. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes to reach the waterfall. Expect to pay around 300-400 SEK for this trip, depending on the taxi service and any additional waiting time.
