Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Umeå, take E4 north towards Skellefteå. After approximately 130 km, merge onto E12 towards Åsele. Continue on E12 for about 80 km until you reach Klimpfjäll. From there, follow the signs for Stekenjokkplatån. The last stretch is on Unnamed Road, which leads directly to the plateau. The drive from Umeå to Stekenjokkplatån should take around 3 hours.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  Start by taking a bus from Umeå to Åsele operated by Länstrafiken Västerbotten. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. From Åsele, you will need to take another bus to Klimpfjäll. This bus service runs less frequently, so check the latest schedule. Once you arrive in Klimpfjäll, you can either walk to Stekenjokkplatån (about 10 km) or consider arranging a taxi for the last leg of your journey. Be prepared for some hiking and bring appropriate footwear.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route after reaching Klimpfjäll, you can hire a taxi to take you to Stekenjokkplatån. Make sure to book your taxi in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. The taxi ride will take approximately 15 minutes and may cost around 300-500 SEK, depending on the company.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous traveler, consider biking from Klimpfjäll to Stekenjokkplatån. The distance is about 10 km, and the route can be scenic but may involve some steep areas. Ensure that you have the proper gear and check the weather conditions before heading out.
