Getting There

Car
If you are in Andermatt and driving, start by heading northwest on Gotthardstrasse (Route 2) towards Göschenen. Continue for about 20 kilometers until you reach the town of Hospental, then turn right onto the A2 motorway towards Lucerne. After approximately 25 kilometers, take exit 38 towards Meiringen/Grindelwald. Follow the signs to Grindelwald for about 15 kilometers. Once in Grindelwald, follow signs to the First cable car station. Park your car at the designated parking area and take the First cable car up to the First station. From there, follow the marked hiking trail to Bachalpsee, which is about a 30-minute walk.

If you prefer public transportation, start at the Andermatt train station. Take the train towards Göschenen and change trains there for a service heading to Interlaken. Get off at Grindelwald station. From the station, you can either walk to the First cable car station, which is about a 20-minute walk, or take a local bus that will take you directly to the cable car station.
