From Ascona, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is 'Ascona, Piazza G. Motta'. Board bus line 1 towards 'Lido di Lugano'. Ride the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the 'Como, Stazione FS' stop. From there, exit the bus and walk towards the Lago di Como waterfront, then follow the signs to 'Funicolare Como-Brunate'. Take the funicular up to Brunate, and from there, follow the signs directing you to Castello Baradello, which is approximately a 20-minute walk uphill.

Walk from your location in Ascona to the nearest train station, 'Locarno'. Take a train towards 'Como Lago' and disembark at 'Como Lago' station. Once you arrive, exit the station and head towards the lakefront. You’ll want to take a left and follow the road along the lakeside until you reach the funicular station 'Funicolare Como-Brunate'. Once at the top, follow the signs leading you to Castello Baradello, which is about a 20-minute hike from the funicular station.
