Getting There

  • Walking

    From Ascona, start at the Piazza Giuseppe Motta, the main square. Head towards the lakefront promenade, following the path along the lake. Continue walking along the promenade until you reach the ferry terminal. Board the ferry to Lugano, which operates regularly. Once you arrive at the Lugano ferry terminal, exit and walk straight towards the main road, Via Nassa. Turn right and follow the signs towards Gandria. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes along the scenic lakeside path, leading you directly to the charming village of Gandria.

    From Ascona, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Piazza Giuseppe Motta. Take Bus line 1 towards Lugano. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the Lugano train station. From there, take the funicular railway from the station to the top of the hill, which provides beautiful views of the surrounding area. Once you reach the top, follow the signs for the hiking path leading down to Gandria. This hike will take about 20 minutes and will bring you directly into the village.
