Bus
From Ascona, walk to the nearest bus stop located on the main road (Via della Pace). Catch the bus number 1 heading towards Lugano. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the 'Lugano, Stazione' stop. From there, transfer to bus number 532 towards Valganna. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes and get off at 'Valganna, Lago di Ghirla'. You will see the lake directly ahead, just a short walk from the bus stop.
Train and Bus
Start from Ascona and walk to the Ascona ferry terminal. Take a ferry to Locarno. Once in Locarno, head to the train station and take a train to Ponte Tresa. At Ponte Tresa, transfer to bus number 532 that will take you directly to Valganna. Get off at the 'Valganna, Lago di Ghirla' stop, and the lake will be a short walk away.
Walking
If you enjoy hiking, you can take a scenic walk from Ascona to Lago di Ghirla. Head northeast from Ascona, following the signs towards Monte Verità. Continue along the paths leading towards Valganna, which will take approximately 2-3 hours. The path offers beautiful views and leads you directly to the lake area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
