Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From Ascona, head to the nearest bus stop, which is located on the main street, Via della Motta. Take the bus number 31 towards 'Lugano'. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at the 'Lugano, Stazione' stop. From there, transfer to bus number 2 towards 'Breganzona'. Get off at 'Breganzona, S. Grato' stop. From this stop, it's a 5-minute walk to Parco San Grato. Follow Via S. Grato uphill until you reach the entrance of the park.

  • Walking

    If you are up for a bit of a hike, start by walking towards the lakeside promenade in Ascona. Head east along the promenade until you reach Piazza Giuseppe Motta. From there, take the road that leads up towards the hills, Via Carona. Continue walking uphill on this road for about 45 minutes until you reach Lugano. Once you reach Lugano, follow signs for Parco San Grato, which is located on Via S. Grato. The park entrance will be on your right.

    For a more comfortable option, you can take a taxi from Ascona directly to Parco San Grato in Lugano. You can find taxis near the main square in Ascona or call one using a local taxi service. The drive will take approximately 20 minutes, and the driver will take you directly to the entrance of the park on Via S. Grato.
