Car
If you are driving from Lauterbrunnen, head south on the main road (Lauterbrunnen – Stechelberg road) for about 10 minutes (approximately 6 km). Follow the signs towards Stechelberg and take the road leading to Mattenbach. There is a small parking area near the falls, but be aware that it may have limited space. Parking could cost around 5 CHF per day.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transport, take a train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once in Lauterbrunnen, transfer to the bus heading towards Stechelberg. The bus ride will take around 15 minutes. Get off at the Mattenbach stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Mattenbachfälle. The bus ticket costs approximately 5-10 CHF depending on your starting point.
Walking
For those who enjoy hiking, you can walk from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg. The distance is about 4 km and the trail is well-marked. The walk takes roughly 1 hour and offers beautiful views of the valley. Once you reach Stechelberg, follow the signs to Mattenbachfälle, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
