Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards Alt St. Johann. From Zurich, take the A1 motorway and follow signs for A4 towards Chur. Continue on A4, then take exit 12 towards Sargans/Flums. Merge onto A13 and follow the signs for Alt St. Johann. Once in Alt St. Johann, navigate to Ennethur 818. There is parking available near the waterfall entrance. Please note that parking may incur a small fee.

• Train and Bus

  For those using public transportation, take a train to Sargans or Walenstadt. From Zurich, you can catch an InterCity (IC) train to Sargans. Once you arrive at Sargans, transfer to a local bus (bus number 620) towards Alt St. Johann. The bus will take you directly to the stop closest to the waterfall. The journey may take around 30-45 minutes from Sargans. Be sure to check the latest timetables on the SBB website or app. Upon arrival, a short walk will lead you to the waterfall.

• Walking

  If you're already in Alt St. Johann, you can reach Thur Waterfall by a scenic walk. From the center of the village, head towards Ennethur, which is well signposted. The walk is approximately 30 minutes and is suitable for most fitness levels. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven at times.

• Hiking

  For more adventurous visitors, consider hiking to Thur Waterfall from nearby trails. There are several marked hiking paths in the region that lead to the waterfall. One popular route starts from the cable car station in Alt St. Johann, offering stunning views along the way. This hike can take about 1-2 hours depending on your pace and the trail you choose. Ensure you carry water and snacks, and check the weather conditions before heading out.
