From the center of Locarno, head towards the lakeside promenade. Start at Piazza Grande, which is a popular square and easy to find. Walk straight down Via C. Ghiringhelli until you reach the lakefront. Once you arrive at the promenade, turn right and continue walking along the waterfront. You will pass several cafes and shops as you go. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach Lake Maggiore, where you can enjoy stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
