Train
From Lucerne, head to the Lucerne train station (Bahnhofplatz). Take a direct train to Interlaken Ost; the journey takes approximately 2 hours. Once at Interlaken Ost, transfer to a local train towards Grindelwald. The train ride from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Grindelwald station, exit the station and follow the signs for the bus stop.
Bus
At Grindelwald station, catch the bus to the First Cable Car station. The bus journey takes about 10 minutes. From the First Cable Car station, take the cable car up to First. Once you reach First, follow the well-marked hiking trail to Bachalpsee; this hike will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on your pace.
Hiking
If you prefer to hike from Grindelwald, exit the train station and follow the signs towards the First Cable Car path. The hike to Bachalpsee from Grindelwald will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, and it is a beautiful scenic route with stunning views of the mountains and valleys. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.
